Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re looking for relief from stubborn muscle tension, a deeply relaxing massage, or aren’t quite sure what type of massage you need, we’re here to help. Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often at Body Revival Massage in Boerne, Texas.

About Body Revival Massage

What types of massage does Body Revival Massage offer?

Body Revival Massage offers a variety of massage styles, including therapeutic massage, deep tissue massage, relaxation massage, prenatal massage, sports massage, Ashiatsu and manual lymphatic drainage.

You don’t necessarily need to know which modality to choose before you book. Our therapists can customize your session and incorporate different techniques based on your goals, preferences and areas of concern.

What makes Body Revival Massage different?

We believe a great massage starts with listening.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, our therapists take time to understand what you’re experiencing and what you’d like to accomplish. Your session may be focused and therapeutic, deeply relaxing, or a combination of both.

Our goal is to combine the personalized attention of a locally operated massage practice with an elevated, professional experience from beginning to end.

Are your massage therapists licensed?

Yes. Our massage therapists are professionally licensed and bring different areas of experience, training and specialization to the practice.

This also allows us to help match clients with a therapist whose technique, pressure and specialties are a good fit for what they’re looking for.

Do I need a membership to get a massage?

No. Body Revival Massage does not require a membership to book an appointment.

You can schedule massage when it works for your body, your schedule and your budget without committing to a monthly membership.

Choosing Your Massage

How do I know which type of massage is right for me?

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Tell us what’s bothering you, what you hope to accomplish and what kind of pressure you enjoy. Your therapist can recommend techniques and customize the session around your needs.

What’s the difference between therapeutic massage and deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue generally refers to techniques that work more deeply into muscles and connective tissue. Therapeutic massage is broader and is typically focused on a particular goal, such as reducing muscular tension, improving mobility or addressing specific areas of discomfort.

Therapeutic massage doesn’t necessarily mean your entire session needs to be extremely deep. Your therapist may use different techniques and levels of pressure depending on the area being treated and your individual needs.

Do you offer relaxation massage?

Yes. You don’t need to be injured or in pain to get a massage. Massage can simply be an opportunity to slow down, decompress and give your body and mind dedicated time away from everyday demands.

Do you offer deep tissue massage?

Yes. Deep tissue massage is available for clients who prefer firmer pressure or more focused work on tight and overworked muscles.

Pressure can always be adjusted. Effective massage doesn’t need to mean enduring more pressure than is comfortable for you.

Do you offer Ashiatsu massage?

Yes. Ashiatsu is a massage technique in which a specially trained therapist uses their feet to provide broad, consistent pressure while using overhead bars for balance and control.

It can be an excellent option for clients who enjoy deep pressure but prefer the broad compression of the foot rather than more pointed pressure from elbows or thumbs.

Do you offer manual lymphatic drainage?

Yes. Body Revival Massage offers manual lymphatic drainage, or MLD, and post-op manual lymphatic drainage performed by therapists with specialized training in the technique.

MLD uses very light, rhythmic movements designed to support the movement of lymphatic fluid. If you’re unsure whether MLD is appropriate for you, contact us before booking and we’ll help you determine the best next step.

Do you offer prenatal massage?

Yes. Prenatal massage is available for expectant mothers when massage is appropriate for their individual circumstances.

Please let us know that you’re pregnant when scheduling so we can appropriately prepare for your appointment.

Do you offer sports massage?

Yes. Sports massage can be customized for active clients and athletes dealing with muscular tightness, repetitive movement, training demands or recovery.

You don’t have to be a competitive athlete to benefit from sports-focused bodywork.

Pain, Tension & Everyday Life

Can massage help with neck and shoulder tension?

Massage may help reduce muscular tension and stiffness through the neck, shoulders and upper back.

These are especially common areas of concern for people who work at computers, drive frequently, perform repetitive work or simply tend to carry tension through their shoulders.

Can massage help with lower-back pain and tight muscles?

Massage may help with muscular tightness, stiffness and discomfort in the lower back, particularly when muscular tension is contributing to the problem.

Your therapist can focus on the affected areas while adjusting techniques and pressure to your comfort level.

Massage is not a substitute for medical evaluation when pain is severe, unexplained, persistent or associated with other concerning symptoms.

What’s the best massage for tight shoulders and neck muscles?

There isn’t one massage that’s best for everyone.

Depending on what’s contributing to the tension, your therapist may use therapeutic massage, deep tissue techniques, targeted work, stretching or a combination of approaches.

Rather than choosing based solely on the name of a service, tell us what you’re experiencing and we’ll help guide you.

Can massage help after exercising?

Massage can be useful for active people experiencing muscular tightness or soreness related to training and repetitive activity.

The best timing, pressure and technique depend on how recently you exercised, how strenuous the activity was and how your body feels that day. Tell your therapist about recent workouts, races or injuries before your session.

What’s the best massage for someone who sits at a desk all day?

Desk work commonly contributes to tension through the neck, shoulders, upper back, hips and surrounding muscles. A customized therapeutic massage allows your therapist to focus on the areas most affected by your work and posture rather than following the same routine for every client.

Your Appointment

What should I expect during my first massage?

Before your session begins, your therapist will talk with you about your goals, pressure preferences, relevant health information and any areas you’d particularly like addressed or avoided.

Communication doesn’t stop once the massage begins. You can always ask for more or less pressure, request more attention to an area, or let your therapist know if something isn’t comfortable.

Do I have to completely undress for a massage?

No.

You should undress only to your personal comfort level. During a traditional massage, professional draping is used throughout the session and only the area currently being worked on is uncovered.

If you have questions or concerns about draping, clothing or comfort, talk with your therapist before the session begins.

What should I tell my massage therapist before my appointment?

Tell your therapist about your goals for the session, areas of pain or tension, recent injuries or surgeries, significant changes in your health, medications or medical conditions that may affect massage, and anything you would like them to avoid.

Also tell us what you enjoy. Pressure and massage preferences are highly individual, and your feedback helps us create a better session.

Can my massage be customized?

Absolutely.

Tell your therapist what you’d like addressed, what you’d prefer avoided and whether you prefer lighter, moderate or deeper pressure. Your therapist can adjust the session accordingly.

You are never locked into receiving exactly the same massage every time you visit.

Should I book a 50-minute or 80-minute massage?

A 50-minute session can work well for general massage or focused work on a smaller number of areas.

An 80-minute session gives your therapist more time to address multiple areas without having to choose between focused therapeutic work and full-body massage.

If you have several concerns or simply don’t want your session to feel rushed, the longer appointment is often worth the extra time.

How long are your massage appointments?

Body Revival Massage offers 20-, 50-, 80-and 110-minute services.

Our appointment structure also includes time before your massage to discuss your goals and time afterward for you to dress before the room is prepared for the next client.

Booking & Pricing

How much does a massage cost?

Pricing depends on the service, appointment length and therapist selected.

You can view current services, appointment lengths and pricing on our online service menu before booking.

Can I choose my massage therapist?

Yes. You’re welcome to request a specific therapist based on availability.

If you’re new to Body Revival or aren’t sure whom to choose, contact our front desk. We can help match you with a therapist based on the pressure, massage style, availability and specialties you’re looking for.

Can I request a male or female massage therapist?

Yes. We want you to feel comfortable with your massage experience and will make every effort to accommodate therapist preferences based on availability.

Can I book the same therapist every time?

Absolutely. Many clients find a therapist whose style works especially well for them and choose to book that therapist consistently.

You can also schedule recurring appointments if you’d like to reserve preferred days and times in advance.

Do you offer same-day massage appointments?

Yes, when availability permits.

Same-day openings do occur, but evenings, weekends and appointments with highly requested therapists can fill quickly. Booking ahead gives you the best selection of appointment times and therapists.

Do you offer evening and weekend appointments?

Yes. Body Revival Massage is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Individual therapist schedules vary, so we recommend booking popular evening and Saturday appointments in advance.

How far in advance should I book a massage?

It depends on how flexible you are.

If you want a particular therapist, evening appointment or Saturday appointment, booking ahead is recommended. If your schedule is flexible, you may also find appointments available on shorter notice.

Do you sell massage gift certificates?

Yes. Massage gift certificates are available and make an easy gift for birthdays, holidays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, anniversaries, thank-you gifts or simply giving someone time to take care of themselves.
